Shire Link adds electric medium van to its Huddersfield hire fleet

Shire Link adds electric medium van to its Huddersfield hire fleet

Shire Link has added its first fully electric medium van to our Huddersfield hire fleet.

The new Farizon SV L1 H1 combines the loadspace and carrying capacity expected from a medium van with automatic transmission and fully electric driving.

Approximately the same size as a short wheelbase Ford Transit Custom, it is a practical option for local deliveries, collections, trade work, smaller moves and other jobs around Huddersfield and West Yorkshire.

Why electric vans make sense for local work

Many working van journeys involve relatively short distances, regular stops and more time on local roads than motorways. This is where an electric van makes the most sense.

There is no diesel engine idling while the van is stationary in traffic or waiting during a delivery. Regenerative braking also recovers energy as the van slows down, making electric vehicles particularly well suited to routes with frequent junctions and stops.

The electric motor delivers power immediately, providing smooth acceleration even when the van is carrying a load. With no conventional gears, it is also straightforward and comfortable to drive around town.

The van produces no exhaust emissions, making it well suited to work in town centres, residential areas, near schools and on sites where air quality is a consideration. It can also be driven within Bradford’s Clean Air Zone without paying the daily charge that applies to non-compliant vans.

It is quieter than a diesel van too, particularly at lower speeds, which can be useful for early starts and deliveries in residential areas.

Up to 188 miles of electric range

Maximum WLTP range (combined)

The Farizon L1 H1 has a 67 kWh battery and a manufacturer’s stated range of up to 210 miles. Actual range will vary depending on the load, driving conditions, temperature, driving style and use of heating or air conditioning.

For local journeys around Huddersfield and work across the surrounding area, it provides a useful working range without sacrificing the space and carrying capacity expected from a medium van.

Try an electric van for yourself

Electric vans make sense for local work, but the best way to understand the difference is to drive one for yourself. You might just be converted.

The electric medium van is available to hire at the same price as our short wheelbase Ford Transit Custom.
